Rosacea is a skin disorder that shows itself in the form of skin flare-ups. At first, facial skin becomes red at the nose, cheeks, chin and then the forehead. It can initially arise as a problem that comes and then disappears. Later it can turn into a problem that stays for a longer duration, with the skin becoming reddish and blood vessels showing visibly over the skin area.
This skin condition cannot be completely cured, but it can be managed through various medications. Medications prescribed for Rosacea can be antibiotics. Antibiotics prescribed are usually in the form of tetracycline antibiotics, which should be taken orally.
Physicians also prescribe azelaic acid, so that lesions, papules an bumps can be lessenned. Acelaic acid is prescibed for topical application to reduce facial inflammation. Yet another effective topical application is cardiovascular medication as it is effective in controlling flushing.
Some topical antibiotics such as metronidazole can also be prescribed so that inflammtion, papules and pustules are reduced. Mirtazapine is also suggested to help reduce flushing and burning sensation. Recently, a more natural product containing Methylsulfonylmethane (MSM) and Silymarin, are being prescribed for treating Rosacea naturally.
Laser is also used to control facial redness caused by Rosacea. Visibility of blood vessels is reduced through laser treatment, wherein vascular lasers transmit light of varying wavelengths to help disintegrate it. This form of treatment has been found to be quite effective, as with successive procedures, redness can be completely eliminated. New red patches can break out later, for which the patients would have to go in for minor sittings.
The best homemade remedy for treating Rosacea is camphor. Actually camphor has proved to be effective in treating this problem to a great extent. Diluted camphor oil, mixed with glycerol and metronidazole has shown postive results with the added benefit of creating no side effects.
